By Staff Reporter Fourteen individuals have been arrested in connection with the unlawful possession of unregistered medicines, according to a press statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on March 25, 2025.The suspects, identified as Justice Nyika (42), Prosper Maphosa (37), Clarence Ncube (27), Brenda Sango (35), Rumbidzai Chinyamakobvu (38), Melany Gutsire (39), Tafadzawa Makwarimba (36), Charles Kakomwe (34), Rufaro Munyanyi (42), Ephiphania Norest Moyo (43), Beauty Madamombe (52), Mascline Dziva (47), Portia Chimombe (38) and Tambudzai Shoko (37), were apprehended following the interception of a truck traveling from Bulawayo to Chinhoyi.Police intercepted the truck, registration number AFG 3713, in Murombedzi, Zvimba, leading to the initial arrest of the driver, Justice Nyika, and his assistants, Prosper Maphosa and Clarence Ncube. Further investigations revealed the involvement of the other 11 suspects, who were arrested in Braeside, Harare, as the intended recipients of the illegal consignment.The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of unregistered medicines, including: * 815 boxes of Broncleer * 77 boxes of Benyin Cough Syrup * 162 boxes of Adeo Salteryn Cough Syrup * 44 and a half boxes of Astrapane Cough SyrupThe ZRP commended the public for providing crucial information that facilitated the arrests and encouraged citizens to continue reporting any information related to drug peddlers or bases to the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800 197, or at any nearest Police Station.
