The session highlighted community successes, addressed service delivery challenges, and laid out an economic roadmap for the region. The Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to the devolution agenda, emphasizing its role in fostering inclusive and sustainable development while tackling local priorities directly. “Devolution isn’t just a policy. It’s a way to empower communities. We’re making sure Matabeleland South is not left behind,” he stated. The gathering discussed strategic plans to boost provincial development, focusing on sectors ready for change, including Mining and Agriculture, Health and Education, Infrastructure Development and Transport, and Manufacturing and SMEs. Minister Nguluvhe underscored the importance of working together and sharing knowledge, noting it as key to unlocking Beitbridge’s economic potential. To better understand local challenges, the Minister listened to insights from Beitbridge Municipality and Rural District Council officials. They discussed critical service areas, such as water and sanitation as well as telecommunications, aiming to improve efficiency and resilience. The meeting saw lively participation from traditional leaders, including Chief Tshitaudze and Chief Matibe, along with headmen and village heads. “We’re taking these issues beyond the boardroom and right to where people live and work,” the Minister said. “Solutions will come from all levels: grassroots, provincial, and national.” This outreach is part of Minister Nguluvhe’s ongoing provincial tour, which aims to monitor service delivery progress across all seven districts of Matabeleland South. The initiative signifies an important move towards community-driven governance and inclusive development planning.
