ZANU-PF Midlands Province Chairman, Cde Edson Chiherenge, has urged party members to remain united and focused on development as the ruling party continues to consolidate its gains under the leadership of His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Cde Chiherenge was the Guest of Honour at the Ward 7 Victory Celebrations held on Monday at St. Faith Munyamana Primary School in Vungu Constituency, where jubilant supporters gathered to mark a historic electoral milestone.

The celebrations followed the 2023 Harmonised General Elections, which saw ZANU-PF reclaim a local authority seat in Ward 7 that had been held by the opposition for the past 15 years.

Addressing the crowd, Cde Chiherenge praised the electorate and the grassroots structures for their unwavering commitment, describing the victory as “a testament to unity, hard work, and the people’s trust in the revolutionary party’s vision for a prosperous Zimbabwe.”

“This victory did not come by chance. It was achieved through dedication, discipline, and effective mobilization at the grassroots level.

The people of Ward 7 have demonstrated their confidence in the leadership of President Mnangagwa and in ZANU-PF as the only party capable of delivering development,” said Cde Chiherenge.

Midlands Endorses Resolution for President Mnangagwa’s Leadership to 2030

Turning to party affairs, Cde Chiherenge confirmed that the ZANU-PF Annual National People’s Conference will be held later this month in Mutare, Manicaland Province. He reaffirmed that the Midlands Province fully supports Resolution Number One, which seeks to consolidate President Mnangagwa’s leadership through to 2030.

He described the resolution as a critical step to sustain the gains of the Second Republic, citing ongoing infrastructure projects, economic reforms, and community empowerment programmes as tangible results of the President’s steady leadership.

“We, as Midlands Province, stand firmly behind President Mnangagwa’s continued leadership. His visionary policies under Vision 2030 have transformed lives and repositioned Zimbabwe on a growth trajectory. Continuity is essential to ensure that the development momentum remains unbroken,” he said.

Cde Chiherenge also urged all party members to remain vigilant and disciplined ahead of the conference, emphasizing that unity within ZANU-PF was key to maintaining stability and accelerating progress.

“Let us guard against factionalism and internal conflicts. Unity is our greatest weapon. When we fight each other, we delay the implementation of projects that directly benefit our communities,” he cautioned.

Youth Urged to Shun Drugs and Embrace Nation-Building

Addressing social issues, the Midlands Chairman delivered a strong message to the youth, calling on them to reject drug and substance abuse, which he described as a “silent destroyer of dreams and potential.”

He applauded the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for its continued crackdown on drug cartels and substance traffickers, noting that the Second Republic remains committed to protecting young people from social ills that threaten their future.

“Our youth must remember that they are the future of this country. The government is creating opportunities through education, empowerment, and entrepreneurship programmes. But none of this can be realised if our young people are trapped in the web of drugs,” said Cde Chiherenge.

Pfumvudza/Intwasa for Food Security

As the rainy season approaches, Cde Chiherenge encouraged communities across Vungu Constituency to embrace the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme, a key government initiative designed to promote climate-smart agriculture and ensure national food security.

He stressed that adherence to the programme’s principles—such as proper land preparation, mulching, and input management—was vital for achieving high yields and improving household livelihoods.

“Pfumvudza is not just a government programme; it is a lifestyle of resilience and productivity. If every household participates diligently, we will eliminate hunger and strengthen our national food reserves,” he said.

Celebrating Victory, Strengthening Vision

The Ward 7 celebrations were attended by local leaders, party supporters, war veterans, and community members who expressed gratitude for the government’s ongoing development initiatives under the Second Republic.

The event ended with renewed pledges of loyalty to ZANU-PF and to the continued leadership of President Mnangagwa, as supporters vowed to sustain the unity and spirit of service that delivered victory in 2023.

“This is not just a celebration of an election win,” concluded Cde Chiherenge. “It is a celebration of the people’s faith in progress, peace, and prosperity — the core values of our great party.”
