Politically connected wealthy businessman Wicknell Chivayo has unleashed a destructive force that’s ravaging the ruling party from within, rendering all anti-ZANU PF elements spectators as he orchestrates ZANU-PF’s downfall.

His reckless antics have eclipsed the combined efforts of main opposition leaders Nelson Chamisa, Jacob Ngarivhume, Douglas Mwonzora, and Job Sikhala (forget about Sengezo Tshabangu, he is ZANU PF’s 2030 leader).

In a country at the doldrums of economic ruin, Chivayo’s extravagant lifestyle and disregard for Zimbabwe’s impoverished masses have ignited widespread outrage and disdain for the ruling party and its leaders who take pictures with him, as Chivayo claims to be doing all he does on behalf of the ruling party. Each car he buys for a “Murakashi” leaves a hundred “Varakashi” disgruntled. Each cash donation he boastfully makes leaves the party teetering on the brink of political and social implosion.

Chivayo’s recent Twitter post attacking Vice President Dr. Constantino DGN Chiwenga has fanned flames of discontent, threatening to topple the ruling party and plunge the nation into chaos. The 1789 French Revolution that brought an end to monarchy rule was , triggered by similar factors Zimbabwe is currently facing; food shortages, economic inequality, and a ruling party turning a blind eye to the struggles of the common people, heavy taxes, and limited opportunities. Queen Marie Antoinette’s infamous boastful response, “Let them eat cake,” when told peasants had no bread, symbolizes Chivayo’s actions today.

Chivayo’s lavish spending and donations would have been ignored had he had a proper company, income, and implemented the Gwanda solar project, from which he pocketed a cool $6 million. Imagine War veterans from an entire province receive a mere $116,000, a figure Chivayo can easily dish out to a single individual for dancing to the chanting of the divisive 2030 slogan. Such disrespect.

Currently the opposition has taken a back seat, as wherever Chivayo is, there’s chaos and by making people hate ZANUPF they are the ultimate beneficiaries. His involvement in the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has been contentious, he has made a mockery of the Apostolic sects, reducing grown men to beggars, and he has successfully damaged ZANU PF’s reputation.

As a Marxist Socialist Party, ZANU PF seeks to benefit all from state resources, regardless of social class. However Chivayo has been mocking the poor, who struggle to make ends meet. His actions have made it challenging for ZANU PF to maintain old members or recruit new ones, as he has given the party (and all the leaders he takes pictures with) an elitist and corrupt tag.
