Systems developer at Zimpost said when he saw this competition to develop an App for the Osaka 2025 Expo he saw it as a unique challenge and an opportunity to showcase his skills on a global stage.“It was also a chance to contribute to Zimbabwe’s digital presence at such a prestigious event. I believed that participating could open doors for future collaborations and professional growth while allowing me to play a role in representing my country through technology,” he said.However, Chiro scooped the Zimbabwe Pavillion Mobile Application Designer Award and walked away with US$2000 and a launch ceremony recently.Chiro said due to severe power cuts experienced in the country he faced some setbacks and occasional network connectivity issues.“I ended up working late hours when electricity was available with fewer people connected to the internet. Through this experience, I learned that the biggest obstacle to success is often ourselves. With determination, planning, and the right mindset, any challenge can be tackled.Moving forward, Chiro is planning to work with like-minded individuals in developing custom technological solutions for Zimbabwe, reducing the country’s reliance on external providers. “Winning this competition has given me a platform to demonstrate my skills, and I hope it will open doors to collaborations that allow me to contribute to the country’s digital transformation. Technology is now the driving force behind economic growth, and I want to be at the forefront of that change in Zimbabwe, added Chiro.The mobile application will serve as a key digital platform for showcasing Zimbabwe to a global audience highlighting the.
