Chegutu West legislator Hon. Shacky Timburwa has welcomed the launch of land tenure title deeds by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The launch, which took place at Precabe farm in Kwekwe, marks an important step in Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.

Hon. Timburwa reflected on the biblical story of Joseph, who came up with a system to save lives during a period of draught in Egypt. Joseph’s innovative approach to land management highlighted the importance of land as a productive resource, allowing the people to work on the land productively and securing their survival and the nation’s prosperity.

Joseph’s greatest achievement, according to Hon. Timburwa, was making land valuable during the famine. By consolidating land ownership under Pharaoh and instituting a tenant farming model, Joseph preserved livelihoods and elevated the importance of land as a productive resource. This principle remains important today, as land remains a cornerstone of wealth creation and economic stability especially in an agro-based economy like Zimbabwe.

The system Joseph introduced encouraged the people to work the land productively, securing their survival and the nation’s prosperity. Hon. Timburwa noted that Joseph’s actions laid the groundwork for modern day banking systems, where land is used as collateral for securing loans.

In this regard, banks can now extend loans to farmers based on the value of their land, propelling agricultural production and ensuring that food security is guaranteed. Hon. Timburwa went on to highlight that Joseph’s model of empowering people with resources to cultivate the land mirrors this modern practice.

Through this narrative, Hon. Timburwa sees an important demonstration of how strategic leadership can shape the course of history by creating systems that will be useful for generations to come. He believes that it’s not just about making it in a crisis but also about using that moment to build a model of fairness, accountability, and resilience in the face of hardships.

Hon. Timburwa also noted that Joseph’s actions remind us of the timeless principles of resource management, the importance of unity, and prioritizing productivity. He noted that these lessons resonate deeply not only in scriptures but also not in every area of our everyday lives.

The launch of land tenure title deeds is expected to have a positive impact on Zimbabwe’s agricultural bodu. By providing farmers with secure land ownership, the government aims to boost agricultural production, improve food security, and contribute to the country’s economic growth and industrial revolution.

Hon. Timburwa believes that the launch of land tenure title deeds demonstrates the government’s commitment to strategic leadership and creating systems that lasts for generations. He saluted President Mnangagwa for his vision and leadership in driving this initiative forward.
