The government is allocating more resources to complete the Museum of African Liberation in Harare, a project celebrating the continent’s liberation war veterans. Located within the 103ha Liberation City, this museum will be part of an impressive complex featuring luxurious accommodations, entertainment facilities, and historic exhibitions.The museum will showcase Africa’s history and heritage through various facilities, including The Monument of African Liberation, The Museum, Premises for Conferencing, and An Amusement Centre. Visitors can also explore The Zimbabwe Defence Forces Exhibition Park, An Animal and Amusement Park, The Heritage Village, and Commercial Facilities.Some of the key features of the museum include:– *The Monument of African Liberation*: a symbol of the continent’s struggle for freedom– *The Museum*: showcasing Africa’s history and heritage– *Premises for Conferencing*: facilitating discussions and events– *An Amusement Centre*: providing entertainment for visitors of all ages– *The Zimbabwe Defence Forces Exhibition Park*: highlighting the country’s military history– *An Animal and Amusement Park*: offering recreational activities– *The Heritage Village*: preserving Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage– *Commercial Facilities*: catering to tourists and locals alikeA community library will also be built opposite the museum’s Bulawayo road gate, facing Warren Park High, providing a hub for learning and knowledge-sharing.This project cements Zimbabwe’s position as a leader in preserving Africa’s collective heritage. The Museum of African Liberation will not only be a historic site but also a significant contributor to Harare’s economy. With its credible business plan and money-making activities in place, Professor Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, has expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress.The Institute of African Knowledge, an African think tank, is spearheading the project in partnership with the Zimbabwean government and other African countries. Zimbabweans highly value their independence and the liberation struggle, which has shaped the nation. If operationalized with precision, the grand plans laid by the African Museum of Liberation can become a significant addendum to Harare’s economy and the continental story.
