KADOMA – Four men have been sentenced to six months imprisonment each for unlawful entry and theft at the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed Tuesday. Gilbert Langton Bumhira (27), Mark Jongwe (26), Clint Tizai (30), and Panashe Magwaza (25) were convicted following a trial stemming from a February 17th break-in at a local mechanic’s workshop.

According to the NPAZ, the four forcibly entered the workshop of Billiard Tadokera, a mechanic in Kadoma, by breaking the padlocks securing the front door. The incident occurred after Tadokera and his workmate had locked up the premises for the night.

“The following morning, the complainant was alerted to the break-in,” an NPAZ statement detailed. “An investigation revealed that the accused had stolen property from the workshop, and subsequent information led to the apprehension of Bumhira, who was found attempting to sell some of the stolen items.”

The NPAZ emphasized that the court found sufficient evidence to convict all four individuals of the crime of unlawful entry and theft. The successful prosecution underscores the NPAZ’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for victims of crime. The case highlights the ongoing challenges of property crime in the region and the NPAZ’s role in addressing such offenses.
