By Staff Reporter The nation prepares to bid a final farewell to Cde Luke Mushore, affectionately known as Cde Joboringo, who was recently conferred with National Hero status. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage announced today that Cde Mushore will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, June 23, 2025. His Excellency, President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, is expected to preside over the burial proceedings.A revered “Son of the Soil,” Cde Mushore’s passing marks a significant loss for the nation. In honor of his contributions, a series of commemorative events have been planned to allow the public to pay their respects.This afternoon, at 3:00 PM, Cde Mushore’s body will be flown to Centenary, Mashonaland Central Province. This will provide an opportunity for his friends, relatives, and the entire leadership of the region to pay their last respects to the departed hero. His remains will then lie in state at his Braebourn Farm.On Sunday, June 22, at 2:00 PM, Cde Mushore’s body will be airlifted back to Charles Gumbo Barracks in Harare, where it will again lie in state ahead of the burial.The formal burial proceedings at the National Heroes Acre will commence bright and early on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 7:00 AM.
