By Edward Makuzva The State of Palestine has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, decrying the continued killing and injuring of civilians despite ongoing international calls for restraint. Since the truce took effect on October 11, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed and more than 230 wounded in what Palestinian authorities describe as “flagrant breaches of international humanitarian law.” The Palestinian ambassador to Dr Tamer Almassri has urged the global community to hold Israel accountable for what it calls systematic aggression and crimes against humanity, warning that silence and inaction only embolden further violations.” These actions constitute a grave breach of the agreement and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.” The Israeli military has violated the truce agreement at least 80 times, demonstrating a clear disregard for the ceasefire and a commitment to ongoing aggression. “These documented violations include: Direct gunfire targeting civilians, airstrikes, deliberate and specific targeting of individuals and areas, the creation of ‘fire belts’ in civilian areas, and the arrest of civilians”, Ambassador Almassri explained. Ambassador Almassri reaffirmed that Israel’s actions clearly reveal its complete disregard for peace. Instead, he said, Israel appears determined to persist with its brutal campaign and acts of genocide against defenseless Palestinian civilians. He emphasized that this aggressive conduct by Israel and its extremist leadership once again exposes it as an entity that thrives on war, oppression, and the deliberate destabilization of the Middle East. Furthermore, Israel has escalated its war plans by closing all crossing points into Gaza for humanitarian aid. This calculated move directly impedes the delivery of essential supplies to a population facing catastrophic conditions, further illustrating a policy of collective punishment against the Palestinian people in Gaza. In light of these atrocities, the State of Palestine urgently renews its call upon the international community to immediately hold Israel accountable for its grave breaches of the truce, its violations of international humanitarian law, and its ongoing genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people.
