Harare – The Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, has issued a stark warning that the Israeli apartheid state’s unrestrained aggression will have far-reaching consequences for global peace and security.

Speaking in Harare, Dr. Almassri said that if Israel continues to act with impunity and without accountability, it will only embolden reckless behavior even toward its allies under the guise of fabricated justifications.

He painted a grim picture of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza City, which once stood as a thriving urban center but is now reduced to rubble under relentless Israeli bombardment.

According to the Palestinian envoy, entire city blocks have been obliterated by airstrikes and remotely operated weapons systems, resulting in the deaths of more than 65,000 Palestinians, a disproportionate number of them women and children.

Over 12,000 people, he added, remain buried under debris, while essential services, hospitals, and schools have been systematically targeted.

Dr. Almassri accused Israel of showing blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian conventions, describing the ongoing atrocities as crimes against humanity and genocide.

He said Israel’s “fascist leadership,” naming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in particular, had turned its violations into a source of pride and arrogance, eroding the credibility of international institutions tasked with upholding human rights and peace.

This, he warned, sets a dangerous precedent for future regimes with authoritarian tendencies to follow suit.

Drawing a historical parallel, the ambassador said the forced displacement of Gaza’s population, pushing civilians into a concentrated area of Khan Younis under scorched-earth tactics, mirrors the horrors of ghettos and concentration camps under Nazi Germany.

“From the deliberate starvation of civilians to the destruction of entire neighborhoods, Israel is deploying methods banned under international law and reminiscent of the darkest chapters of human history,” he said.

Despite the dire situation, Dr. Almassri noted a measure of hope in recent international responses.

He welcomed the decisions of countries such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia to recognize Palestinian rights and issue strong statements against the ongoing atrocities.

He described these moves as “a crucial recognition of the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people” and an important step toward salvaging the two-state solution from what he called “the dangers of genocide, starvation, displacement, and annexation.”

Dr. Almassri also reaffirmed the State of Palestine’s call for the international community to take immediate action to halt Israeli aggression, impose accountability for war crimes, and reinvigorate diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

“The time for neutrality has passed,” he said. “Every state that claims to uphold international law and human dignity must act now to stop this unfolding tragedy.”
