By Ilyana Sithole HARARE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a public appeal for information leading to the arrest of Wellington Jeremiah Masiwa, also known as “Nyokayemabhunu,” in connection with a substantial fraud case involving $60,000.Masiwa, 42, of Chigwada Village, Chief Negomo, Mazowe, who is reportedly self-employed, is accused of defrauding a complainant in June 2024. According to a press statement released by Commissioner P. Nyathi, Masiwa misrepresented himself as having partnerships with foreign investors and claimed he could facilitate the expansion of the complainant’s mining business.“The suspect misrepresented to the complainant that he was in partnership with several foreign investors and had the capacity to facilitate the smooth expansion of complainant’s mining business,” stated Commissioner Nyathi.Based on these misrepresentations, the complainant paid Masiwa $60,000 for the procurement of two tipper trucks. However, after receiving the funds, Masiwa allegedly became evasive and failed to deliver the promised vehicles.“Complainant made several fruitless follow-ups on the trucks and the suspect became evasive prompting the complainant to file a police report,” the statement continued.The ZRP is currently appealing for the public’s help in finding and arresting Masiwa, also known as “Nyokayemabhunu.”Anyone with information regarding Masiwa’s whereabouts is urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800197. Alternatively, reports can be made at any nearest police station.The ZRP is appealing to the public to assist in bringing Masiwa to justice and to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.
