The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) has noted with concern fake social media message that schools will be opening on the 6th of January 2025.

In a statement, the MoPSE advised that they have not issued any statement with regards to opening of schools apart from the official school calendar issued in the course of the term.
“Members of the public are therefore urged to dismiss the social media messages with the contempt it deserves. As the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, we wish to confirm that there is no deviation from the original school calendar. The nation and our stakeholders are hereby informed that as provided earlier this term, schools will open Tuesday 14 January 2025 and close Thursday 10 April 2025,” reads the statement.

Circulating fake news has grown to become a cancer of the society.

It seems that the situation has been exacerbated by how people are sharing unconfirmed information on social media with fake news spreading like veld fires.

The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to providing access to quality, relevant, inclusive, equitable Heritage-Based Education to all school-aged children and adult learners in 2025 and beyond.

Earlier last year the Ministry replaced the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) with the school-based projects of practical application.
