By Regina PasipanodyaThe Zimbabwe School Examination Council has revealed that Special Needs Candidates have shown significant improvement in the November O’-level exams in comparison to the previous year.In Zimbabwe, people with special needs have been facing challenges in accessing education as most facilities across the country have not been friendly to people with disabilities.However, in a statement, Zimsec revealed that of the 323 who participated in the November 2024 O-level exam, 198 wrote five or more subjects and of that 72 pupils passed five or more subjects showing a pass rate of 36.36 percent.In 2023, several 253 pupils sat for the exams and 41 out of 159 who wrote five or more subjects passed, highlighting a 7.91 percent increase in the pass rate.Ordinary Level Results were released last week with the national pass rate of 33.19%, which marks a 3.78% increase from the 2023 pass rate. The significant improvement in academics of people with special needs shows that the education sector has managed to cater to People with Disabilities although a lot still needs to be done.
