President Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa has sucked Hon. Appollonia Munzverengwi from the position of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province with immediate effect.

In a statement, the announcement was made by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya.

The removal was made in terms of section 108 (1a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

While no official reason was given for the removal of Hon. Munzverengi who served in this position since 2018, she was immediately replaced by Hwedza North Member of Parliament Hon. Itayi Ndudzo.

However, during the opening of the 2025 Cabinet yesterday, President Mnangagwa emphasized that this year his government will strengthen its focus on measurable outcomes, timely execution of policies and responsiveness to the citizens.

“The appointment of persons into public sector boards must be based on merit, competence and the requisite experience,” the President said.
