By Regina PasipanodyaGokwe – The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the death of three minors after being swept away by a flooded river.It is alleged that the devastating incident happened on February 14, 2025, when the three children, aged 1, 3, and 4 years were sleeping under Tare Bridge which is along the Gokwe-Siabuwa Road.According to the police statement the victims, along with their parents, were part of a church gathering that had sought shelter under the bridge during a heavy downpour.However, the fourth infant, a 3-year-old male, is still missing and the police are conducting further investigations.This incident occurred amid warnings by the government and the meteorological services to stay alert and refrain from taking shelter under a tree or crossing flooded rivers.Here are some do’s and Don’ts when it’s raining.DosAvoid going outside unless it is necessary.Check local news for weather updates and warnings.Always carry an umbrella or wear a raincoat, and protective shoes when walking in the rain.Drive safely and maintain a safe speed and distance from other cars.Unplug electronic appliances to prevent damage from power surges.Don’tsDon’t cross flooded roads or bridges.Avoid driving through standing water.Avoid finding shelter under the tree or bridge when it is raining.Avoid taking unnecessary risks like trying to rescue people or property during a storm.
