WCoZ Unveils Visionary 5-Year Blueprint, Paving Way for National and International Transformation

There was a palpable sense of hope and resolve today as the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) officially unveiled its ambitious 5-Year Strategic Plan (2025-2030). This milestone represents a strong step into the unabating struggle for the rights of women and girls based on unshakeable commitment and collaborative will.

“Today is not just a launch, it’s a celebration of the incredible investment and commitment poured in by the sisters within our movement,” said Mercy Jaravani, WCoZ’s National Coordinator with conviction. “This blueprint isn’t just for the next five years; it’s a forward-thinking roadmap that promises transformative change, not only within Zimbabwe but also on a global scale.”

This masterfully planned strategy, its necessity forged over decades of committed movement-building, is cognisant of the flexible and frequently trying terrain on which WCoZ makes its way. Witnessing the fast-changing dynamics and the concomitant pressures and possibilities, the plan clearly projects a path for WCoZ to establish its pull and continue to be a valuable and effective agent of change.

While the whole strategic document presents deep insight into the identity of WCoZ, operational environment, in-depth SWOT analysis, stakeholder mobilization strategies, and its major vision, mission, and core values, what this revolutionary strategy is fundamentally comprised of is concentrated strategic goals and explicitly defined thematic priorities.

Charting the Course for the Next Five Years: Three Strategic Pillars

Over the next five years, WCoZ will strategically concentrate its efforts on three core pillars:
* Empowering the Movement: Building a resilient and adaptable movement equipped with the necessary skills, resources, and cohesion to effectively advance women’s rights.
* Confronting Injustice Collectively: Intensifying collaborative efforts to challenge the deep-rooted inequalities, discrimination, and injustices that impede the full realization of women’s rights.
* Amplifying Voices, Expanding Choices: Strengthening collective platforms to ensure that the voices of women and girls are heard, their agency is amplified, and their choices are broadened across all aspects of life.

A Comprehensive Agenda: Thematic Areas of Focus

To achieve these strategic goals, WCoZ will direct its interventions across the following eleven critical thematic areas:
* Championing Health rights and access to quality healthcare.
* Advocating for robust Legal and Constitutional Rights that protect and empower women.
* Promoting equitable access to Education for all girls and women.
* Eradicating Gender Based Violence (GBV) through comprehensive prevention and support systems.
* Fostering Economic Empowerment and financial independence for women.
* Actively engaging in Peace Building processes and ensuring women’s inclusion.
* Addressing the gendered impacts of Environmental issues and promoting women’s leadership.
* Transforming Culture, Media and ICT landscapes to challenge harmful norms and promote positive narratives.
* Increasing women’s participation and leadership in Politics and Decision Making.
* Ensuring gender-responsive Humanitarian Response in times of crisis.
* Prioritizing the rights and well-being of the Girl Child across all sectors.

“Our mandate as WCoZ is unequivocal: to be the driving force behind movement building for the complete realization of the rights of women and girls,” affirmed WCoZ Chairperson, Muchanyara Mukamuri. “We achieve this by harnessing the collective power, agency, and unified voice of our members, creating vital spaces for mobilisation, effective coordination, capacity enhancement, and impactful advocacy for the women’s rights agenda.”
