A heated row has erupted within ZANU-PF after Tafadzwa Mugwadi, a firebrand MP, publicly criticised Manicaland Province for attempting to smuggle Paul Tungwarara into the Central Committee through allegedly unconstitutional means.

In a strongly-worded post on social media, Mugwadi slammed the province’s actions as “illiterate” and contrary to the party’s constitution.

He posted a picture of the ZANU PF Constitution, saying, “Over to you, Manicaland.” Be literate.”

The controversy surrounds Tungwarara’s blocked co-option, which was deemed irregular and procedurally flawed by senior party structures.

The issue escalated when Patrick Chinamasa, a heavyweight politician, backed Munyaradzi Machacha’s ruling that the province had mishandled the process.

Mugwadi’s public rebuke has sparked a fresh power struggle within the ruling party, drawing attention to Manicaland’s internal handling of appointments.

The Tungwarara affair has opened up another chapter in ZANU-PF’s ongoing internal conflicts.

This comes soon after a similar debacle involving elder Kida Tagwirei caused embarrassment in Harare province.
