Zimbabwe has shown its commitment to making a lasting impression on the world stage through the virtual launch of its Expo 2025 Osaka pavilion website and mobile app. The virtual launch at Golden Conifer yesterday, March 11, 2025, reinforced the nation’s commitment to leveraging the global platform to market tourism, trade, and investment, in line with Vision 2030.

The launch, which was preceded by the related tourism stakeholder interaction, brought the country’s most senior government officials, players in the industry, and foreign allies together to guide Zimbabwe’s strategy for the high-profile expo. The Secretary for Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr. T. Munyanyiwa, noted the critical role of the online platforms to project Zimbabwe’s image and facilitate access to possible tourists and investors.

“This one-stop-shop mobile phone website and application will be a tour of our destination,” Dr. Munyanyiwa declared in his introductory speech. “It will provide communication and cooperation among stakeholders so that we work in harmony to design an experience which they will never forget.”

The focus on the contribution of the private sector was a common thread throughout, with officials describing its central role in making sure that Zimbabwe’s pavilion is a true representation of its potential and aspirations. “By fostering partnerships, Zimbabwe can leverage the Expo to boost tourism, trade and investment, establish new markets, and further its national development goals,” said Dr. Munyanyiwa.

The Foreign Affairs and International Trade Secretary Ambassador A.R. Chimbindi concurred, Expo 2025 Osaka provides a “golden opportunity to further our engagement and re-engagement agenda, expanding our global partnerships and diplomatic reach.” Chimbindi was eager to emphasize the expo as key to crafting the strategic positioning of Zimbabwe’s great potential in the major sectors of tourism, agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.

“Expo 2025 Osaka is a strategic venue where nations meet to exchange ideas, form business networks, and establish sustainable growth,” Ambassador Chimbindi said. “Our participation by Zimbabwe will provide us with the chance to open the world to the great potential of our country.”

The internet websites, he noted, are a necessary feature of today’s era of the internet with easy access to news, happenings, and investment opportunities. Tourism as an anchor economic sector for Zimbabwe will be in focus at the expo.
The history of the country, the scenery, and globally renowned sites such as Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, and Hwange National Park will be highlighted to get Zimbabwe included among places to travel.

“By Expo 2025 Osaka, we hope not only to market our exclusive tourism products but also to put Zimbabwe on the must-see map for international tourists,” said Ambassador Chimbindi.

The launch ceremony also recognized Zimbabwean youths’ innovative nature, where Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) swept the award for their innovative method of coming up with the pavilion’s mobile app and website. Mr. Stima, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), welcomed the HIT team and extended an invitation to the private sector in tourism to be fully engaged in the expo.

“Launch of Zimbabwe pavilion website and mobile application is a major step in our preparations,” commented Mr. Stima. “I invite the private sector in tourism to seriously take part in the Expo 2025 Osaka. The ZTA has also devised a template of packages that can be a guideline to your preparations, accessed on the launched website, mobile application and ZTA website.”

With the Expo 2025 Osaka countdown, Zimbabwe will have a success story of possibility, innovation, and development to share. The nation’s determination to leverage the expo in an attempt to spur economic development and re-engagement into the international community is a demonstration of its desire to be an international player. With digital fronts shutting the world to Zimbabwe, the nation is eagerly awaiting the chance to leave its imprint in Osaka.
