By Dr Masimba Mavaza The CCC part has urged the Commonwealth not to readmit Zimbabwe back in the Commonwealth. In a letter written by the notorious fugitive Promise Mkwananzi the CCC has urged the Commonwealth to refuse to accept Zimbabwe back in the fold despite visible positive changes. The opposition gave similar statements being made by the Western Sponsored and opposition aligned NGOs namely the Anti Zimbabwean NGO, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and the Zimbabwe NGO forum. It has become very clear that these malcontents are also sponsoring their colleague NGOs from other countries to make false, bold, reckless and unsubstantiated allegations against Zimbabwe, meant to damage, undermine Zimbabwe and bring her into ridicule. This unpatriotic behaviour must not go unchallenged. The Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs addressed the unfounded allegations propagated by the so-called National Spokesperson of a faction of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), the fugitive Promise Mkwananzi, titled “Opposition to Zimbabwe’s Commonwealth Readmission,” dated 21st of October 2024. This statement comprises numerous misleading assertions which aim to undermine the credibility of Zimbabwe’s public institutions, particularly the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the judiciary, to which the people of Zimbabwe have entrusted their governance. The 2023 Zimbabwean elections were monitored by various regional and international missions, which unanimously declared the elections to be free, fair, and credible. Observers reported that at least 97% of polling stations conducted voting without any irregularities. The unsubstantiated claims of manipulation and corruption directed at ZEC serve only to diminish public confidence in a system that has enabled peaceful and legitimate transitions of power. It is imperative to recognise that Zimbabwean institutions, including ZEC, function independently and in accordance with established constitutional frameworks.Allegations suggesting that opposition members such as Amos Chibaya and Senator Timba have been wrongfully detained without trial are categorically untrue. These individuals face charges related to gatherings intended to incite public violence, which constitutes an offense under Zimbabwean law. The delays in their trials are a result of numerous interlocutory applications made by their own legal representatives, which the courts must consider prior to proceeding with the trial. It is crucial to emphasise the independent operation of the judiciary and the entitlement of all accused individuals to due process under the law. Claims suggesting that these detentions are politically motivated or constitute human rights violations are both inaccurate and misleading. Zimbabwe remains dedicated to upholding human rights and the rule of law, regardless of political affiliation. The recall of 15 Members of Parliament and 17 councillors is solely an internal matter within the CCC party. The Government has no involvement in the internal governance of political parties. It is disingenuous to assert that the State orchestrates such recalls when political parties possess mechanisms to resolve their internal disputes. Furthermore, the distribution of funds under the Political Parties Finance Act is contingent upon parliamentary representation, with eligibility granted only to those parties that meet the established legal criteria. The allegations asserting that Zimbabwe’s Judiciary has been compromised by the Executive are unfounded and offensive. Zimbabwe’s Constitution guarantees the independence of the Judiciary, which operates with complete autonomy. The claim that Chief Justice Luke Malaba’s tenure extension was unconstitutional ignores the legal foundations on which his mandate was granted. The tenure extension occurred within legal parameters and is a matter of public record. It is notable that the Judiciary has ruled against the Government in several significant cases, thereby affirming its impartiality and adherence to the rule of law. Any concerns regarding judicial rulings should be addressed through appropriate legal channels rather than through public disinformation campaigns. The Government of Zimbabwe maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption. Investigations into entities such as ZESA and Kuvimba Mining House are ongoing, and any substantiated instances of misconduct will be prosecuted. The Government encourages members of the public to report any occurrences of corruption to the relevant authorities, including the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). Furthermore, victims of any alleged violence at the hands of State functionaries are urged to report to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission or the Independent Complaints Commission, which are constitutionally mandated to address such grievances.Zimbabwe’s pursuit of readmission to the Commonwealth is part of the Government’s broader strategy to re-engage with the international community and build upon the progress achieved in restoring the country’s political and economic stability. Zimbabwe remains committed to upholding democratic principles, human rights, and the rule of law. The citizenry is encouraged to unite in support of this process and to reject those who seek to undermine national efforts through foreign interference and disinformation. In conclusion, Zimbabwe remains resolute in its commitment to democratic reforms, governance, and accountability, and looks forward to rejoining the Commonwealth family, which will further advance its development and international cooperation. As all eyes are focused on Samoa 🇼🇸 State, it is sad that we have our own people who are advocating to destroy the whole country for their personal gains.
