By Regina PasipanodyaThe Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of three men in connection with a murder case that happened in Manyerere Village in Mudzi.It is alleged that the trio; Willard Macherenge (36), Johanes Makitsi (36) and William Dhlamini (19) assaulted Paradzai Gande (37) on February 01, 2025.The suspects allegedly assaulted the deceased with switches indiscriminately all over his body following a misunderstanding during a drinking spree. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault and his body was taken to Kotwa Hospital for post-mortem. In a similar case, the police in Kadoma have arrested Misheck Muperiwa (22) and Costain Tshuma (28) in connection with a murder case that occurred on 31 January 2025 at a house in Mupamombe Phase 1. The two suspects, who are members of an apostolic sect, allegedly attacked Shepherd Mphofu (48) after he tried to stop them from sprinkling what they call holy ashes in the residential area.These two incidents underscore the rise in murder cases in Zimbabwe, with people attacking and killing each other over minor disagreements. As the community grapples with the increase in murder cases, the police there urge the public to have peaceful conflict resolution“We urge the public to recognize the importance of fostering a culture of non-violence and mutual respect and try to resolve conflicts peacefully,” the statement read in part.
