The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it will soon switch to an electronic system that will ensure all dockets are processed without the risk of bribery interfering.

Officer Commanding Harare Province, Commissioner Maxwell Chikunguru, made the announcement during the official opening of a new office block at the Mbare District headquarters.

He said, “Soon, we will transition to an electronic system where all dockets will be processed without any possibility of bribery”An electronic docket is a digital version of a court’s or legal case’s file, containing documents, orders, and other relevant information related to a case.

It’s an online platform where users can access and manage case information, often used in courts and legal proceedings.

Think of it like an online folder where all the important documents and updates for a case are stored and can be accessed digitally.

Comm. Chikunguru lauded the Mbare community for playing a key role in lowering crime in the district.

He said, “This impressive decrease is a testament to the cooperative involvement of the public and law enforcement in our district.“

From January to November 2025, crime rates in Mbare District have decreased compared to the same period last year.

“My joy is even greater knowing that this remarkable project was initiated and funded entirely by the community.

“As we often say, you are the water, and we are the fish; we cannot thrive without you.“Professionalism within our ranks does not allow for corrupt practices.

“We encourage the public to report any such incidents to help us address them swiftly.”

Implementing electronic dockets in Zimbabwe police stations could significantly enhance efficiency and transparency.

Benefits include:

– Reduced paperwork and storage space- Improved data management and retrieval- Enhanced accessibility for officers and the public

– Increased accountability and reduced corruption risks

– Streamlined case management and trackingHowever, challenges like infrastructure, training, and cybersecurity would need to be addressed in the Police force.
